Grade 4 Math Worksheets

Grade 4 formalises the standard algorithms — multi-digit addition and subtraction, multi-digit multiplication, and division with remainders — and opens two new number systems: fractions with like denominators added and subtracted, and decimals as tenths and hundredths. Measurement conversions and multi-step word problems round out the year.

This is the grade where the vertical format matters most for multiplication and division, and where missing-number sheets start to look like algebra. A student who can solve 6 × ___ = 42 fluently is ready for the equations that come two years later.

Topics taught in grade 4

Grade 4 on this site: nine topics — addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, mixed operations, place value, fractions, decimals, and measurement — in 49 worksheets, each in three versions, for 4,419 problems with keys.

Addition: the standard algorithm on four- and five-digit numbers. Subtraction: the standard algorithm on four- and five-digit numbers. Multiplication: two- and three-digit by one-digit products and two-digit by two-digit multiplication. Division: two- and three-digit dividends with one-digit divisors, with and without remainders. Mixed Operations: two-step problems and expressions with parentheses. Place Value: rounding multi-digit numbers to any place and the value of each digit to the hundred thousands. Fractions: adding and subtracting like denominators, equivalent fractions, and multiplying by a whole number. Decimals: tenths and hundredths as fractions and decimals, comparing decimals, and adding tenths. Measurement: converting within the customary and metric systems, feet and inches together, and area and perimeter.
