What this worksheet covers

22 decimals problems fill this drill page; problem 8 asks "30/100", and the sheet stays at that level throughout. Several problems use mixed numbers, which have to be handled without dropping the whole-number part and operands run to two decimal places, so the decimal points have to be lined up rather than the right-hand digits. About the drill format

This drill runs 22 problems in a steady layout, so the eye never has to hunt for the next one; problem 8, "30/100" shows the level it holds. A run of one decimal operation is where point alignment stops being a decision and becomes a habit.

Set A, Set B and Set C

Set A is the original MathSheetLab worksheet; Sets B and C keep its structure and redraw the numbers, with each answer recomputed rather than copied. Where Set A's problem 12 is "0.6", Set B's is "0.3".

How to use this worksheet

By grade 4 a student should take all 22 decimals problems in one sitting. If the page takes more than about fifteen minutes, the underlying facts are probably not automatic yet, and that is worth fixing before more decimals practice piles on. Print Set B of this decimals drill before writing on Set A; the same skill worked twice a week apart tells you far more than once.

One mistake to watch for

More digits means bigger: 0.125 is judged larger than 0.3. On this grade 4 drill, problem 15 ("0.35") is the kind of item where it shows.

Whole-number length comparison is being applied after the point.

Pad both numbers to the same number of places before comparing.
