Fractions Drill Worksheets
Fractions are where many students first meet a number that is not a count. These sheets start at grade 2 with halves, thirds and fourths of a shape, move through equivalent fractions and comparison in grade 3, like-denominator addition and subtraction in grade 4, unlike denominators and multiplication in grade 5, division of fractions and mixed numbers in grade 6, and complex fractions and signed fractions in grade 7.
Every answer key writes fractions in lowest terms and as mixed numbers where the value is more than one, so a student learns the convention alongside the arithmetic. The three-set format is especially useful for fractions, where the same procedure is needed on many pages before it stops being deliberate.

Fractions on this site runs from Grade 2 to grade 7: 30 worksheets across six grades and five formats (drill, timed drill, missing number, mixed review, and word problems), each in three versions, for 2,517 problems in all with every answer keyed. Eleven of the sheets were first published on MathSheetLab and are kept here as Set A of their cell, with Sets B and C derived from them.
Grade by grade: Grade 2 works on naming halves, thirds and fourths of a shape, and half or a quarter of a set; Grade 3 works on naming fractions of a whole, equivalent fractions, and comparing like denominators; Grade 4 works on adding and subtracting like denominators, equivalent fractions, and multiplying by a whole number; Grade 5 works on adding and subtracting unlike denominators, multiplying fractions, and dividing with unit fractions; Grade 6 works on dividing fractions by fractions and all four operations with mixed numbers; Grade 7 works on complex fractions, signed fractions, and fractions as terminating and repeating decimals.
Focus: naming halves, thirds and fourths of a shape, and half or a quarter of a set.

The six formats
- Drill. Straight practice, 20-40 problems. A page of one fraction operation lets the renaming step become routine before anything else is layered on.
- Timed Drill. Fact fluency, 50-100 problems, timer box on sheet. Equivalent fractions and simple sums recalled quickly are what free a student's attention for the harder operations later.
- Missing Number. Solve for the blank in any position. A missing numerator or a missing factor asks the student to think about the fraction relationship in reverse.
- Mixed Review. Assorted problem shapes from the operation. Comparison, equivalence and computation on one page stops the sheet from being a single procedure repeated.
- Word Problems. Story problems in real-world contexts. Fractions of recipes, distances and shares are where the abstract unit becomes a real quantity.
