Ratios & Proportions Drill Worksheets
Ratio and proportional reasoning is the bridge from arithmetic to algebra. Grade 6 writes and simplifies ratios, builds ratio tables and finds unit rates; grade 7 solves proportions, finds the constant of proportionality and reads scale drawings; grade 8 connects proportional relationships to slope and similar figures.
Unit rates on these sheets always divide cleanly and proportions always have whole-number solutions, so the student is practising the setup rather than fighting the arithmetic. Word problems draw on recipes, speed, prices and mixtures — the situations where proportional thinking is actually used.

Ratios and proportions on this site runs from Grade 6 to grade 8: 15 worksheets across three grades and five formats (drill, timed drill, missing number, mixed review, and word problems), each in three versions, for 1,422 problems in all with every answer keyed. One of the sheets were first published on MathSheetLab and are kept here as Set A of their cell, with Sets B and C derived from them.
Grade by grade: Grade 6 works on writing and simplifying ratios, equivalent ratios, ratio tables, unit rates and ratios as percents; Grade 7 works on solving proportions, unit rates, the constant of proportionality and scale drawings; Grade 8 works on proportional relationships and slope, solving proportions, similar figures and scale factors.
Focus: writing and simplifying ratios, equivalent ratios, ratio tables, unit rates and ratios as percents.

The six formats
- Drill. Straight practice, 20-40 problems. A run of proportions or unit rates lets the setup become mechanical so attention can move to the reasoning.
- Timed Drill. Fact fluency, 50-100 problems, timer box on sheet. Equivalent ratios and simple unit rates recalled quickly are multiplication facts wearing a different coat.
- Missing Number. Solve for the blank in any position. A missing term in a ratio or proportion is the format's natural home; the whole topic is finding the missing term.
- Mixed Review. Assorted problem shapes from the operation. Simplifying, scaling and unit rates on the same page keep the student reading what each problem wants.
- Word Problems. Story problems in real-world contexts. Recipes, speeds and prices are where proportional reasoning is actually used, and where a wrong setup is obvious.
