Decimals Drill Worksheets

Decimals are place value continued to the right of the point, and the sheets here treat them that way. Grade 4 writes tenths and hundredths as fractions and decimals and compares them; grade 5 adds, subtracts, multiplies and divides decimals to hundredths; grade 6 multiplies and divides decimals by decimals with multi-digit operands; grade 7 works with signed decimals and converts fractions to terminating and repeating decimals.

The vertical sheets align the decimal points, because right-aligning the digits is the single most common decimal error. Every answer keeps the number of places the operation requires, so the key models the notation as well as the value.

Decimals on this site runs from Grade 4 to grade 7: 20 worksheets across four grades and five formats (drill, timed drill, missing number, mixed review, and word problems), each in three versions, for 1,680 problems in all with every answer keyed. Seven of the sheets were first published on MathSheetLab and are kept here as Set A of their cell, with Sets B and C derived from them.

The six formats

  • Drill. Straight practice, 20-40 problems. A run of one decimal operation is where point alignment stops being a decision and becomes a habit.
  • Timed Drill. Fact fluency, 50-100 problems, timer box on sheet. Quick decimal comparisons and small sums are the fluency that keeps multi-step decimal work from stalling.
  • Missing Number. Solve for the blank in any position. A missing addend or factor with decimals asks the student to undo an operation, which exposes place-value gaps that forward computation hides.
  • Mixed Review. Assorted problem shapes from the operation. Adding, comparing and multiplying on the same page keeps the student choosing where the point goes rather than assuming.
  • Word Problems. Story problems in real-world contexts. Money and measurement are where decimals live outside the classroom, and where a misplaced point is obviously wrong.
