Grade 2 Math Worksheets
Grade 2 takes addition and subtraction to two digits with regrouping and introduces the ideas the next three years will develop: arrays as repeated addition, halves and thirds and fourths, hundreds and expanded form, coins and bills counted together, and lengths measured and compared in standard units.
The vertical sheets earn their place this year, because regrouping is a column procedure and needs the columns visible. Pair a vertical sheet with the mixed review at the same grade so the student meets regrouping and non-regrouping problems side by side.
Topics taught in grade 2
Addition
two-digit addition within 100 with regrouping, and a first look at three-digit sums.
Subtraction
two-digit subtraction within 100 with regrouping, and mental subtraction of 10 and 100.
Multiplication
equal groups, arrays as repeated addition, and skip counting by 2s, 5s and 10s.
Mixed Operations
addition and subtraction within 100 and 1,000, and three-term problems.
Place Value
hundreds, tens and ones, expanded form to 999, and 10 or 100 more and less.
Fractions
naming halves, thirds and fourths of a shape, and half or a quarter of a set.
Measurement
adding and subtracting lengths, feet and inches, meters and centimeters, and time to the half hour.
Time & Money
reading a clock to five minutes, counting mixed coins and bills, and making change from a dollar.
