Grade 2 Time & Money Worksheets

Grade 2 time and money covers reading a clock to five minutes, counting mixed coins and bills, and making change from a dollar. The five sheets below take that work in five formats, and each comes in three versions with its own answer key.

The drill has 24 problems, small numbers throughout (problem 10: "1 dollar bill, 3 dimes, 1 nickel and 2 pennies"). The timed drill has 60 problems, story problems (problem 21: "Write "quarter past 9" as a digital time."). The missing number has 24 problems, numbers to 90 (problem 9: "___ pennies = 5¢"). The mixed review has 24 problems, story problems (problem 9: "Start at 7:30. What time is it 60 minutes later?"). The word problems has 22 problems, story problems (problem 8: "Liam has 1 dollar bill, 1 quarter, and 1 dime. How much…").

Across the five sheets the generator draws on reading a clock to five minutes, counting mixed coins and bills, elapsed time in half hours, quarter past and quarter to, making change from a dollar, and how many coins. The pages are tagged to Common Core 2.MD.7 and 2.MD.8, and each tag links to the standards index.

If this level is not landing, step to grade 1 time and money, where the focus is reading a clock to the half hour, counting like coins, and two kinds of coins together; if it is too easy, grade 3 moves on to reading a clock to the minute, elapsed time in minutes, making change, and adding money.

Start with the grade 2 time and money drill to see whether the method is in place, use the timed drill only once accuracy is there, and save the word problems for the point where the student can compute without thinking about it.
