Grade 2 Place Value Worksheets
Grade 2 place value covers hundreds, tens and ones, expanded form to 999, and 10 or 100 more and less. The five sheets below take that work in five formats, and each comes in three versions with its own answer key.

Grade 2 Place Value Word Problems
Story problems in real-world contexts.
The drill has 20 problems, one of them regrouping (problem 7: "563 - 10"). The timed drill has 60 problems, numbers to 996 (problem 21: "10 less than 287"). The missing number has 24 problems, numbers to 971 (problem 9: "___ is 100 less than 229"). The mixed review has 24 problems, numbers to 980 (problem 9: "Write 710 in expanded form."). The word problems has 8 problems, story problems (problem 3: "Noah writes 202 in expanded form. What does Noah write?").
Across the five sheets the generator draws on hundreds, tens and ones, comparing three-digit numbers, 10 or 100 more and less, writing a number from expanded form, and expanded form to 999. The pages are tagged to Common Core 2.NBT.8, 2.NBT.1, and 2.NBT.3, and each tag links to the standards index.
Place value continues at kindergarten, grade 1, grade 3, grade 4, and grade 5, so a student who finishes the grade 2 sheets can move up without changing topic.
Start with the grade 2 place value drill to see whether the method is in place, use the timed drill only once accuracy is there, and save the word problems for the point where the student can compute without thinking about it.
