What this worksheet covers
60 subtraction problems fill this timed drill page; problem 21 asks "3 - 1", and the sheet stays at that level throughout. Within that, ten of the 60 column problems need regrouping and the rest do not, so the two cases are mixed rather than blocked and the numbers run as high as 999. Further down, problem 41 asks "20 - 2". Common Core 2.OA.2 is the slot this page fills.
Skills practised
Grade 2 subtraction means two-digit subtraction within 100 with regrouping, and mental subtraction of 10 and 100. The skills on the page: subtraction facts within 20 and subtracting 10 or 100 mentally. Working the page asks a student to regroup past ten rather than counting up one at a time. 43 different answers appear across the 60 problems, so a student cannot copy one result down the page.
About the timed drill format
With 60 short problems such as problem 21, "3 - 1" and a timer box, this page measures recall rather than method — write the time down, and aim to beat it on Set B. Subtraction facts are the slowest of the four to become automatic; a timer shows which ones are still being counted.

The three sets come from the same generator with three different seeds: same skill, same layout, fresh numbers, and an answer key computed with the problems. Where Set A's problem 31 is "11 - 7", Set B's is "11 - 1".
How to use this worksheet
Grade 2 attention runs short, so split these 60 subtraction problems over two or three sittings rather than pushing through in one; a number line or counters within reach is a strategy, not a failure. Keep the key face down until all 60 problems are finished, then go through the misses together rather than only totalling the score.
