This is a 24-problem missing number for grade 2 multiplication, printed in black and white with the key on page two. The blank moves between positions from problem to problem, so no single procedure clears the page and the numbers run as high as 70. Problems 9 and 17, for instance, are "2 × 3 = ___" and "5 × ___ = 5". Common Core 2.OA.4 is the slot this page fills.
At grade 2, multiplication is about equal groups, arrays as repeated addition, and skip counting by 2s, 5s and 10s, and this sheet takes one slice of that. Specifically, the problems practice equal groups and multiplying by 2, 3, 5 and 10. Working the page asks a student to reason backwards from a result to a missing part. Eleven different answers appear across the 24 problems, so a student cannot copy one result down the page.
Each of the 24 problems has a blank, and the blank is not always at the end: problem 9, "2 × 3 = ___" puts it where the student has to reason backwards. An unknown factor is division in disguise, so this format is where multiplication and division fact families are built.
All three sets are produced by the site's deterministic generator from a fixed seed, so they are the same every time the site is built and the answer keys are exact. Where Set A's problem 13 is "1 × 2 = ___", Set B's is "___ × 4 = 20".

One mistake to watch for
A missing factor is found by subtracting: 6 × ___ = 42 is answered 36 instead of 7. Problem 16 on this grade 2 missing number page, "7 × ___ = 70", is where to look for it.
The equals sign is read as an instruction to compute something with the two visible numbers.
Read the equation as a question — "six times what is forty-two" — and connect it to the division fact it is.
