Skills practised
At grade 6, decimals is about multiplying and dividing decimals by decimals, and multi-digit decimal sums and differences, and this sheet takes one slice of that. Working the page asks a student to read a situation and choose an operation before computing, keep the decimal points aligned, and carry money notation through to the answer.
About the word problems format
Story problems are set one to a line with room to work underneath, problem 4, "Apples cost $5.95 per pound. Jonah buys 9.0 pounds. What is…" among them, and the key gives each of the 10 answers with its unit. Money and measurement are where decimals live outside the classroom, and where a misplaced point is obviously wrong.

How to use this worksheet
Have the student estimate before computing, then compare. At grade 6 an decimals answer that is wildly off should announce itself, and building that reflex matters as much as the ten answers. Date the word problems before filing it. Set C from six weeks later is the cheapest evidence you have that the decimals stuck.
One mistake to watch for
The decimal point in a product is placed by lining up the points. On this grade 6 word problems, problem 7 ("Apples cost $11.67 per pound. Hana buys 5.5 pounds. What is…") is the kind of item where it shows.
The addition rule is being reused for multiplication, where it does not apply.
Count decimal places in both factors and give the product that many; estimate first so a wildly wrong placement stands out.
