What this worksheet covers
There are 24 mixed operations problems here — one page to work, one page of answers to check against — and Sets B and C repeat the layout with different numbers. What makes this set particular: the blank moves between positions from problem to problem, so no single procedure clears the page and the numbers run as high as 1,543. Problems 9 and 17, for instance, are "95 ÷ ___ = 19" and "5 × ___ = 40". Common Core 6.NS.3 is the slot this page fills.

About the missing number format
Each of the 24 problems has a blank, and the blank is not always at the end: problem 9, "95 ÷ ___ = 19" puts it where the student has to reason backwards. A blank on a mixed page can belong to any operation, so the student has to reason about the relationship rather than recall a fact.
Set A, Set B and Set C
All three sets are produced by the site's deterministic generator from a fixed seed, so they are the same every time the site is built and the answer keys are exact. Where Set A's problem 13 is "___ × 4 = 68", Set B's is "___ ÷ 4 = 8".
How to use this worksheet
Have the student estimate before computing, then compare. At grade 6 an mixed operations answer that is wildly off should announce itself, and building that reflex matters as much as the 24 answers. Use the key as a check, not as a grade; none of the 24 problems needs a score attached to be useful.
One mistake to watch for
Parentheses are treated as decoration. On this grade 6 missing number, problem 17 ("5 × ___ = 40") is the kind of item where it shows.
Grouping symbols have been seen but not yet connected to "do this part first".
Have the student rewrite the value of the bracket above it before doing anything else.
