Grade 5 Place Value Worksheets

The grade 5 place value sequence is about decimal place value to thousandths, powers of ten, and rounding decimals, and these five sheets cover it format by format, three versions each.

The drill has 22 problems, numbers to 100 (problem 8: "0.6 × 10^2"). The timed drill has 72 problems, story problems (problem 25: "Which digit is in the tenths place of 71.391?"). The missing number has 24 problems, numbers to 91,000 (problem 9: "93 × 10^___ = 9,300"). The mixed review has 30 problems, numbers to 4,100 (problem 11: "610 ÷ 10^1"). The word problems has 10 problems, story problems (problem 4: "A runner finished in 69.921 seconds. Round the time to the…").

Across the five sheets the generator draws on decimal place value to thousandths, rounding decimals, comparing decimals to hundredths, multiplying and dividing by powers of ten, and expanded form with decimals. The pages are tagged to Common Core 5.NBT.2 and 5.NBT.3, and each tag links to the standards index.

If this level is not landing, step to grade 4 place value, where the focus is rounding multi-digit numbers to any place and the value of each digit to the hundred thousands; if it is too easy, grade 5 moves on to decimal place value to thousandths, powers of ten, and rounding decimals.

A useful order through these five grade 5 place value sheets: drill first, then mixed review to check the method survives a change of shape, then the missing-number sheet, and the timed drill last as a fluency check.
