How to use this worksheet

Expect twenty minutes or so of real attention for ten problems. At grade 6, multiplication rewards care over speed — a rushed mixed review gets the arithmetic right and the signs or units wrong. Date the mixed review before filing it. Set C from six weeks later is the cheapest evidence you have that the multiplication stuck.

One mistake to watch for

In two-digit multiplication the second partial product is not shifted left, so 34 × 12 comes out as 102. Watch problem 7 of this mixed review — "A school orders supplies in boxes of 6 or boxes of 9. What…" — for this one.

The 1 in 12 is being treated as one, not ten.

Have the student write the placeholder zero in the ones column of the second row and say "ten times" aloud as they start it.
