What this worksheet covers
This is a 30-problem drill for grade 5 multiplication, printed in black and white with the key on page two. What makes this set particular: the numbers run as high as 988. Problems 11 and 21, for instance, are "988 × 37" and "643 × 19". The sheet sits inside Common Core 5.NBT.5, in the grade 5 Number & Operations in Base Ten strand.

About the drill format
A drill is straight practice: 30 problems of the same kind, laid out across the page with working space under each — problem 11, "988 × 37" is typical of the whole page. Thirty untimed products let a student practise the algorithm while accuracy, not speed, is the target.
Set A, Set B and Set C
All three sets are produced by the site's deterministic generator from a fixed seed, so they are the same every time the site is built and the answer keys are exact. Where Set A's problem 16 is "531 × 49", Set B's is "361 × 84".
How to use this worksheet
By grade 5 a student should take all 30 multiplication problems in one sitting. If the page takes more than about fifteen minutes, the underlying facts are probably not automatic yet, and that is worth fixing before more multiplication practice piles on. Keep the key face down until all 30 problems are finished, then go through the misses together rather than only totalling the score.
One mistake to watch for
In two-digit multiplication the second partial product is not shifted left, so 34 × 12 comes out as 102. Problem 21 on this grade 5 drill page, "643 × 19", is where to look for it.
The 1 in 12 is being treated as one, not ten.
Have the student write the placeholder zero in the ones column of the second row and say "ten times" aloud as they start it.
