Grade 6 Division Worksheets

Grade 6 division covers long division with two- and three-digit divisors and multi-digit quotients. The six sheets below take that work in six formats, and each comes in three versions with its own answer key.

The drill has 30 problems, numbers to 72,000 (problem 11: "16926 ÷ 91"). The timed drill has 60 problems, numbers to 9,600 (problem 21: "16 ÷ 2"). The missing number has 24 problems, numbers to 74,480 (problem 9: "70944 ÷ 96 = ___"). The mixed review has 30 problems, numbers to 76,692 (problem 11: "42089 ÷ 51"). The word problems has 10 problems, story problems (problem 4: "708 chairs are arranged in 12 equal rows. How many chairs…"). The vertical format has 16 problems, numbers to 9,430 (problem 6: "3901 ÷ 47").

Across the six sheets the generator draws on long division with two-digit divisors, division facts to 144 ÷ 12, mental division of multiples of 100, long division with remainders, and dividing by three-digit divisors. The pages are tagged to Common Core 6.NS.2 and 3.OA.7, and each tag links to the standards index.

Division continues at grade 3, grade 4, and grade 5, so a student who finishes the grade 6 sheets can move up without changing topic.

Start with the grade 6 division drill to see whether the method is in place, use the timed drill only once accuracy is there, and save the word problems for the point where the student can compute without thinking about it.
