What this worksheet covers
Ten story problems fill this word problems page; problem 4 asks "A book of 18 pages is read in 6 equal sittings. How many…", and the sheet stays at that level throughout. What makes this set particular: the problems are written as situations that have to be translated before they can be calculated and answers carry units, and a number without its unit is only half an answer. Further down, problem 7 asks "Ben reads 15 pages in 5 days, reading the same amount each…".
Skills practised
At grade 3, division is about division facts with divisors to 10 and 12, and division as an unknown-factor problem, and this sheet takes one slice of that. Working the page asks a student to read a situation and choose an operation before computing. Eight different answers appear across the ten problems, so a student cannot copy one result down the page.
About the word problems format
Story problems are set one to a line with room to work underneath, problem 4, "A book of 18 pages is read in 6 equal sittings. How many…" among them, and the key gives each of the 10 answers with its unit. Sharing and grouping situations both divide, but they read differently, and recognising both is the point.

Where Set A's problem 6 is "Xavier earns 12 points per level and finishes 6 levels. How…", Set B's is "A stamp costs 9 cents. What is the cost of 11 stamps?".
How to use this worksheet
Give this word problems uninterrupted. At grade 3, division is where procedure and recall have to run at the same time, and ten problems done in fragments hide which of the two is the problem. Mark the ten problems the same day using the key — an error caught immediately is a correction, and one caught next week is a habit.
One mistake to watch for
Division facts are found by guessing and checking with multiplication, slowly. On this grade 3 word problems, problem 7 ("Ben reads 15 pages in 5 days, reading the same amount each…") is the kind of item where it shows.
The division fact is not stored; only the multiplication fact is.
Practise each times-table row as division facts too, and pair every missing-factor problem with its division form.
