What this worksheet covers
There are 24 division problems here — one page to work, one page of answers to check against — and Sets B and C repeat the layout with different numbers. Within that, the blank moves between positions from problem to problem, so no single procedure clears the page and the numbers run as high as 72. About the missing number format
Each of the 24 problems has a blank, and the blank is not always at the end: problem 9, "___ ÷ 4 = 9" puts it where the student has to reason backwards. Blanking the dividend or divisor turns the sheet into multiplication practice from the other side.
Set A, Set B and Set C
All three sets are produced by the site's deterministic generator from a fixed seed, so they are the same every time the site is built and the answer keys are exact. Where Set A's problem 13 is "10 ÷ ___ = 5", Set B's is "80 ÷ 8 = ___".
How to use this worksheet
Give this missing number uninterrupted. At grade 3, division is where procedure and recall have to run at the same time, and 24 problems done in fragments hide which of the two is the problem. Ask the student to re-work one missed division problem from scratch on Set B rather than correcting it in place; the second attempt shows whether the method changed.
One mistake to watch for
A missing dividend is found by dividing: ___ ÷ 7 = 6 is answered 42 ÷ 7 or left blank. Watch problem 17 of this missing number — "___ ÷ 2 = 10" — for this one.
The blank in the first position has no procedure attached to it yet.
Read it as "what number, shared into sevens, gives six" and rebuild it as 7 × 6.
