Grade 3 Addition Worksheets

Grade 3 addition covers three-digit column addition with regrouping in more than one place. The six sheets below take that work in six formats, and each comes in three versions with its own answer key.

The drill has 30 problems, 30 of them regrouping (problem 11: "820 + 339"). The timed drill has 72 problems, 36 of them regrouping (problem 25: "14 + 5"). The missing number has 24 problems, numbers to 1,787 (problem 9: "876 + 783 = ___"). The mixed review has 30 problems, thirteen of them regrouping (problem 11: "24 + 27 + 52 + 20"). The word problems has 10 problems, story problems (problem 4: "The bakery sold 93 muffins on Friday and 172 muffins on…"). The vertical format has 20 problems, twenty of them regrouping (problem 7: "685 + 822").

Across the six sheets the generator draws on three-digit addition with regrouping, addition facts within 20, adding two-digit numbers mentally, and adding four two-digit numbers. The pages are tagged to Common Core 3.NBT.2 and 2.OA.2, and each tag links to the standards index.

Addition continues at kindergarten, grade 1, grade 2, and grade 4, so a student who finishes the grade 3 sheets can move up without changing topic.

Treat the three versions of each grade 3 addition sheet as a week: Set A on Monday to find the gaps, Set B midweek after the fix, Set C at the end as the check that it held — 186 problems per set across the row.
