Grade 1 Addition Worksheets

The grade 1 addition sequence is about fact fluency within 20, three addends, and two-digit plus one-digit numbers, and these six sheets cover it format by format, three versions each.

The drill has 18 problems, seven of them regrouping (problem 7: "8 + 18"). The timed drill has 60 problems, seventeen of them regrouping (problem 21: "22 + 30"). The missing number has 24 problems, numbers to 89 (problem 9: "___ + 17 = 20"). The mixed review has 22 problems, story problems (problem 8: "Tom has 2 toy cars, 8 toy trucks, and 4 toy trains. How…"). The word problems has 22 problems, story problems (problem 8: "Maya read 4 books last week and 9 books this week. How many…"). The vertical format has 22 problems, two of them regrouping (problem 8: "15 + 7").

Across the six sheets the generator draws on sums within 20, doubles facts, adding multiples of ten, and two-digit plus one-digit within 100. The pages are tagged to Common Core 1.OA.6, 1.OA.2, 1.OA.1, and 1.NBT.4, and each tag links to the standards index.

Addition continues at kindergarten, grade 2, grade 3, and grade 4, so a student who finishes the grade 1 sheets can move up without changing topic.

Treat the three versions of each grade 1 addition sheet as a week: Set A on Monday to find the gaps, Set B midweek after the fix, Set C at the end as the check that it held — 168 problems per set across the row.
