Grade 3 Mixed Operations Worksheets

At grade 3, mixed operations means all four operations, with two-step expressions introduced. Below are five worksheets on it — one per format — each in Set A, B and C with keys.

The drill has 20 problems, six of them regrouping (problem 7: "9 × 2"). The timed drill has 72 problems, eight of them regrouping (problem 25: "20 ÷ 2"). The missing number has 24 problems, numbers to 172 (problem 9: "___ - 11 = 48"). The mixed review has 30 problems, four of them regrouping (problem 11: "9 × 12 + 4"). The word problems has 8 problems, story problems (problem 3: "There are 32 students split evenly into 4 groups. How many…").

Across the five sheets the generator draws on mixed multiplication and division facts, mixed addition and subtraction facts, all four operations, and two-step expressions. The pages are tagged to Common Core 3.OA.7 and 3.OA.8, and each tag links to the standards index.

Mixed operations continues at grade 1, grade 2, grade 4, grade 5, and grade 6, so a student who finishes the grade 3 sheets can move up without changing topic.

Start with the grade 3 mixed operations drill to see whether the method is in place, use the timed drill only once accuracy is there, and save the word problems for the point where the student can compute without thinking about it.
