Grade 1 Subtraction Worksheets
Grade 1 subtraction covers facts within 20, unknown-addend equations, and subtracting multiples of ten. The six sheets below take that work in six formats, and each comes in three versions with its own answer key.

The drill has 22 problems, numbers to 90 (problem 8: "90 - 70"). The timed drill has 60 problems, seven of them regrouping (problem 21: "5 - 4"). The missing number has 24 problems, numbers to 19 (problem 9: "6 - ___ = 3"). The mixed review has 24 problems, two of them regrouping (problem 9: "1 + ___ = 18"). The word problems has 12 problems, story problems (problem 5: "8 ducks are in the pond. 7 more ducks join them. How many…"). The vertical format has 20 problems, seven of them regrouping (problem 7: "20 - 1").
Across the six sheets the generator draws on subtraction within 20, subtracting multiples of ten, unknown-addend facts, and two-digit minus one-digit without regrouping. The pages are tagged to Common Core 1.NBT.6, 1.OA.6, and 1.OA.1, and each tag links to the standards index.
Subtraction continues at kindergarten, grade 2, grade 3, and grade 4, so a student who finishes the grade 1 sheets can move up without changing topic.
Treat the three versions of each grade 1 subtraction sheet as a week: Set A on Monday to find the gaps, Set B midweek after the fix, Set C at the end as the check that it held — 162 problems per set across the row.
