What this worksheet covers
24 time and money problems fill this missing number page; problem 9 asks "___ nickels = 20¢", and the sheet stays at that level throughout. What makes this set particular: the blank moves between positions from problem to problem, so no single procedure clears the page and the quantities are amounts of money, so answers need a dollar or cent sign to be complete. Skills practised
At grade 1, time and money is about reading a clock to the half hour, counting like coins, and two kinds of coins together, and this sheet takes one slice of that. What a student is asked to do here is counting like coins. Working the page asks a student to carry money notation through to the answer and reason backwards from a result to a missing part. Eight different answers appear across the 24 problems, so a student cannot copy one result down the page.
About the missing number format
The 24 problems here move the unknown around, so a student solves for a missing part as often as for a result; problem 9, "___ nickels = 20¢" is one of them. How many coins, or how many minutes, reverses the counting and tests whether the values are understood.

Sort coins by type, count each type by its value, and write the running total.
