What this worksheet covers
Set A of this kindergarten missing number sheet holds twenty time and money problems on one printable page, with the answer key on the page behind it. Within that, the blank moves between positions from problem to problem, so no single procedure clears the page and the quantities are amounts of money, so answers need a dollar or cent sign to be complete. Two problems from the middle of the page — "___ quarters = 125¢" and "___ o'clock is written 1:00" — show the range. The skill maps to Common Core K.CC.5.
Skills practised
At kindergarten, time and money is about reading a clock to the hour, o'clock times, and the value of each coin, and this sheet takes one slice of that. The skills on the page: counting like coins and o'clock times. Working the page asks a student to carry money notation through to the answer and reason backwards from a result to a missing part. Ten different answers appear across the twenty problems, so a student cannot copy one result down the page.
About the missing number format
The 20 problems here move the unknown around, so a student solves for a missing part as often as for a result; problem 7, "___ quarters = 125¢" is one of them. How many coins, or how many minutes, reverses the counting and tests whether the values are understood.

The three sets come from the same generator with three different seeds: same skill, same layout, fresh numbers, and an answer key computed with the problems. Where Set A's problem 11 is "___ pennies = 2¢", Set B's is "___ dimes = 80¢".
How to use this worksheet
Five focused minutes beats twenty distracted ones at kindergarten. Fold this missing number in half, do one part of the twenty problems today and the rest tomorrow, and let the student use fingers or counters if they want them. Keep the key face down until all twenty problems are finished, then go through the misses together rather than only totalling the score.
One mistake to watch for
Coins are counted by number rather than by value: three dimes and two quarters is "5 cents". On this kindergarten missing number, problem 14 ("___ o'clock is written 1:00") is the kind of item where it shows.
A coin is being treated as a unit of one.
Sort coins by type, count each type by its value, and write the running total.
