What this worksheet covers
This is a 16-problem timed drill for grade 8 integers, printed in black and white with the key on page two. The expressions carry exponents, so the order of operations decides the answer and some operands are decimals rather than whole numbers. Problems 6 and 11, for instance, are "(6.5 x 10^4) × (2.4 x 10^2)" and "(4.1 x 10^4) × (6.0 x 10^6)". The sheet sits inside Common Core 8.EE.4, in the grade 8 Expressions & Equations strand.
Skills practised
At grade 8, integers is about integer exponents, the product, quotient and power rules, negative exponents and scientific notation, and this sheet takes one slice of that. About the timed drill format

How to use this worksheet
Expect twenty minutes or so of real attention for sixteen problems. At grade 8, integers rewards care over speed — a rushed timed drill gets the arithmetic right and the signs or units wrong. Use the key as a check, not as a grade; none of the sixteen problems needs a score attached to be useful.
